Marketing Dashboards

Overview

In October 2020, Google made a significant announcement regarding the introduction of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a new website analytics platform designed to replace Universal Analytics (UA). This transition was scheduled to take place on July 1st, 2023. Having joined Noble Studios, a leading creative digital performance marketing agency, in July 2022, I actively participated in preparing for this shift. Recognizing the limited time remaining until the deprecation of UA, I played a crucial role in developing new client dashboards and understanding the new GA4 platform.

Problem

All current client dashboards were built using UA, which was scheduled for deprecation upon the introduction of GA4. The GA4 platform differed from UA in terms of data collection methods, metrics/dimensions, and various scopes. Therefore was crucial to understand these differences thoroughly in order to create Looker dashboards for our clients and ensure accurate reporting data.

Solution

To address this challenge, it was important to thoroughly familiarize ourselves with GA4 and understand its distinctions from Universal Analytics (UA). We took to deep learning to comprehend the unique features, data collection methodologies, and metrics/dimensions of GA4. Additionally, we conducted extensive experimentation with various dashboard configurations to identify any limitations that may arise and explore alternative approaches to overcome them. By immersing ourselves in GA4 and experimenting with different dashboard setups, we aimed to gain an understanding of the platform and optimize our approach to meet the specific needs of our clients.

Results

Developed ten client-facing Looker Studio dashboards utilizing the new GA4 data source.

Envestnet Dashboards

These Envestnet Dashboards we created and experimented with the new GA4 data source. These are the first dashboards I have ever created. After these two dashboards, I started looking more into data analytics as a career I would love.

Yodlee Dashboards

Yodlee had multiple dashboards they needed to recreate using the new GA4 dashboards. Some these dashboards required the use of BigQuery(SQL) to make some of the metrics work.
